How it works

The watermark or numbers are drawn directly into the PDF's page content, so they appear in every viewer and in print. The preview shows page 1 — the same stamp is applied to every page (numbers can skip a cover page). Everything runs in your browser; your document is never uploaded.

Tips

For drafts, a gray diagonal "DRAFT" at 25% opacity is the classic look. Tiled works best for strong deterrence on sensitive documents. Adding both a watermark and page numbers? Run the tool twice — download, then drop the result back in.

Marking documents: watermarks and page numbers done right

A watermark states a document's status before a single word is read — DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL, APPROVED, or simply whose work it is. Page numbers do the opposite job: they make a document navigable after it's printed or referenced. Both are stamps drawn permanently into each page's content, so they survive every viewer, every print, and every forward. This tool does both, with a live preview so you see exactly what you're committing to.

Stamping a document

  1. 1Choose the mode: Watermark or Page numbers.
  2. 2For watermarks: type your text (or upload a PNG/JPG logo), pick diagonal, centered, or tiled, and tune opacity, size, and color against the live page preview.
  3. 3For page numbers: choose position and format (1 / Page 1 / 1 of N), set a starting number, and optionally skip the cover page.
  4. 4Drop in the PDF if you haven't already — the preview shows page one with your settings applied.
  5. 5Download; the stamp is applied to every page (numbers respect the cover-skip).

Frequently asked questions

Can a watermark be removed later?

It's drawn into the page content, so it prints and displays everywhere — but a determined person with editing tools could white it out. Treat watermarks as clear labeling and deterrence, not security.

Text or image watermark — which is better?

Text for status labels (DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL) — it's crisp at any size. An image for branding — a transparent PNG logo at 20–40% opacity looks professional without drowning the content.

Can I number pages but skip the cover?

Yes — tick "Skip the first page" and numbering starts on page two, beginning at whatever starting number you set.

Can I add both a watermark and page numbers?

Run the tool twice: apply one, download, drop the result back in, and apply the other. Both stamps end up in the final file.
