FileSnap reads the exact position, size, color, and font style of every text run in your PDF. When you edit one, it covers the original with a patch matched to the page background and draws your replacement in the closest matching font — so the result looks like it was always there.

Private by design

Unlike most online PDF editors, your file is never uploaded to a server. All rendering and editing happens inside your browser using the same engine Firefox uses to display PDFs. Close the tab and nothing persists.

Editing PDF text, explained

PDFs were designed to look identical everywhere — which is exactly why they're so hard to change. The format stores positioned letters, not editable paragraphs. This editor reads the position, size, color, and font style of every text run on the page, so when you retype something it can cover the original cleanly and draw your replacement in a matching style. The result looks like the document always said what you wanted it to say.

A typical edit, start to finish

  2. 2Click the text that's wrong. It turns into an input with the original wording pre-filled; type your correction.
  3. 3Adjust size, color, bold, italic, or underline in the panel if the detected style needs a nudge — or search 1,500+ fonts if you want a different typeface entirely.
  4. 4Drag any text to reposition it, use Erase mode to white out content, or Add-text mode to write in blank spaces.

Frequently asked questions

Will my edit match the original font?

The editor detects the family, weight, and slant of the original and picks the closest match automatically — for most documents the change is indistinguishable. For exotic embedded fonts you can search the built-in library of 1,500+ fonts and pick a closer one; whichever you choose is embedded into the saved file.

Can I edit a scanned PDF?

Click-to-edit needs real text, and a scan is a photograph of text. On scans, use Erase mode to white out what's wrong and Add-text mode to type the correction over it — that combination handles most scanned-document fixes.

Does the original text stay in the file?

Visually it's gone, but the underlying data can remain in the file's internals. That's fine for corrections; it is not a substitute for true redaction of sensitive data.

Is there a page or file size limit?

No. Everything runs on your device, so large documents work — they simply take a moment longer to render.
